Coincidence? No way.
We had a bit of close shave with April yesterday and it has me thinking about the little miracles that occur in our lives every day. We were celebrating Kassidy’s (Kim’s sister) 22nd birthday at my in-laws house. We were all just hanging out, talking, laughing, and eating dessert. The kids were playing happily. One nephew got a little over-eager and decided to jump on the tall cabinet door that houses the garbage can, brooms, etc. It started falling down, down and we all froze in horror as it crashed to the floor. Said nephew got out in time not to be all the way underneath the cabinet, but his leg was still caught underneath the edge. April had been standing on the other side of the cabinet when it came down. There was probably four inches of space between the counter she was standing next to and the cabinet that was now laying on the ground. She got a big goose egg on her head out of the ordeal, but that’s all. If she had been standing just one inch closer, it would have hit her full on the head, knocked her down and then landed on top of her. No other kids were hurt, except for the two oldest, and them not badly. A kitchen-aid mixer also came falling down out of the cupboard and I don’t even want to think about the damage one of those could do landing on the head of a small child. Were we just lucky that no other kids were around when it fell? I don’t think so. I think God watches out for our little ones all the time, in a hundred different ways and we don’t notice it the majority of the time. No one had a sudden urgent feeling to get their children out of the kitchen. Heavenly Father already had things well in hand when the cabinet came down. So now, the nephew has learned not to hang on cabinet doors, said cabinet is tightly secured to the wall, and we all went to bed last night a little more grateful for our children and the miracles that happen every day.
Amen to that, so many things, we are all blessed way more than we realize, I am so grateful
phew! glad she is ok! And I agree… Little ones are being watched out for.
ps… since you are the only one who reads my blog, I just wanted to let you know that I think I am done… Done done done. I just can’t find the time and when i do find the time that thing I wanted to say has made it’s way out of my brain.
More than we know they are being looked after when we as parents are watching out for one of our other ones! We love you sweet April!
“Said nephew”, eh?
I see things in this neighborhood everyday that make me think, “Man, these kids are lucky.” My kids have so many close calls, but you’re right. It’s not luck. They are huge blessings!
